Do you cook your oatmeal with only water?
Hey Dawn,
I’m pretty sure Flavia does!
Yes.
I do this just about every morning, it’s so tasty and filling ! How much oats do you use? 🙂
1/2 cup (uncooked) would be a good amount 🙂

I prefer to drink protein shake first and then eat oatmeal. I believe it’s better for digestion.
I’ve also read that it’s better to soak your oats to get rid of the phytic acid (which blocks absorption) of nutrients. I did it the day before yesterday and my stomach didn’t feel weighed down like it usually does. So soaking also makes the oats more digestible.
Hi
Why do you not recommend having fats with oats each morning?
I love a teaspoon of coconut oil in with oats & choc protein powder.
Thanks
Hi Ainsley,
Flavia doesn’t recommend combining carbs and fats at the same because carbs and fats use the same energy pathway for digestion so you are likely o store the fat as fat when it is combined with carbs. Hope that makes sense. As long as you keep the fat under 10 grams with your carb meals (so I tsp of cocnut oil is fine) and carbs under 10 grams with your fat meals you should be good. 🙂
All the best,

Do you put in the protein before or after cooking your oats???
after 🙂

Hey Flavia! Ive been following your workout routines for a while now but im having an issue building muscle. Idk what type of protein is good to use. Im skinny. I weigh about 117. I follow every workout andim beginning to eat extra healthy. Also what types of supplements should I use? I always have low iron. I do take the one a day multivitamin but idk if that’s good to use. Thank you for all that you do!
Hi Amanda,
Check this out: http://www.vincedelmontefitness.com/blog/3533/muscle-building-diet-for-women/ It is best to get most of your nutrients from food but Bio Trust protein powder and Athletic Greens are both great supplements to take. Fish oil is beneficial as well.
All the best!
