Strive for progress, not perfection.

The hardest part about losing weight is the beginning. Starting something new is scary and intimidating. When people ask me where to start I always suggest to replace one bad habit with one good habit. It may take an entire month before that bad habit is replaced and that’s ok because it’s a start.

The reason most exercise and diet programs fail is because there are too many new changes to implement. The things that are “comfort” measures soon are taken out of a persons life and that is where many people struggle…and who wouldn’t?!

YOUR ACTION MOVE FOR THIS WEEK

*Replace one BAD habit with one GOOD habit*  – anyone at any age can do this.

My bad habit lately is not resting. I am 38 weeks pregnant and I have been go go go. Even on vacation the last two weeks I have been working, hiking, cooking, worrying, thinking way too much and causing unnecessary stress (which the baby can sense).

==> This week I will take at least one hour to REST and READ something non-baby related, something non-fitness related, and just enjoy!!

So what is the bad habit you are going to replace? Let me know below:

This is great advice! My biggest bad habit that hinders me from losing weight is stopping my meal plan and schedule come Friday after work. My main goal this month is to push through on the weekends to continue to eat my healthy meals. Good luck to you and your husband, a new baby is such a blessing and I am super excited for you both and your families. God bless!

My biggest “bad habit” is I do great during the day ,working out hard, eating clean until night time hits, You see I work 4 in the evening till midnight. Then I will come home to unwind . It takes me an or so before I can fall asleep. So I will watch a little T.V. and them nasty temptations hit, late night eating and I ruin what I did during the day… Any suggestion? Best of luck to You and Vince on your new addition to the family… May God Bless y’all

Hi- For me, this is hard too (resisting tempation on the weekends, esp Friday night when I get home from a perfect eat clean week).

What I usually do to try and combat the temptation is too drink 16 oz of water and put on short shorts, or something tight and then look in the mirror. This just helps me realize my goals and reevaluate having some bad food. Doesn’t always work, but this is what I do.

Don’t have junk food in your house! Snack on something better like good protein or some veggies, nuts, or seeds! 🙂

My bad habit is to take 1 cheat day/week and turn it into 2.
This week I will be working on only having 1 cheat day.
Summer is tough, as we know, and friends will ask you why you’re not eating/drinking
    everytime you go out.
    Very tough.

I’d recommend choosing a really healthy meal when you go out. I try not to focus on the fact that I have a more restrictive diet than others at the table. You can have a huge salad with a lean meat. You’re eating, just not ruining your week or sacrificing your goals.

I will get more sleep. I try and try, but I don’t make sleep as much of a priority as I should. When I don’t get enough sleep, I find myself stressed out and frustrated. I know sleep is important for weight loss. I’m going to put forth more effort to get my 8 hours.

Great article. I need to give your advice a try, too. 🙂 Thanks for the motivation, and enjoy the last few days of pre-baby life. May you be blessed beyond measure as your new one enters this world. Enjoy and cherish every moment, my friend!

  • I’ve truly tried to employ, however it does not operates in any way.
