Hi there! Flavia, you are an inspiration and a great fit body role model. I hope everything is going well with the pregnancy and I can’t wait to see your own body transformation to your post-baby body. You can do it!

Anna or Flavia, I have a quick question about cardio. I have a very busy schedule and my day starts pretty early and ends a bit late so the only time I have to do cardio is in the morning after I wake up (this is assuming I’ve warmed up my muscles). I don’t usually eat before my cardio but I do eat a recovery meal afterwards. Should I try to eat a bit of something BEFORE I engage in my cardio session (I do 20-30 minutes of HIIT)? If I should, is there a “digesting period” where my food needs to receive fuel in order to prevent use of protein for energy? I feel perfectly fine doing cardio on an empty stomach but I’m trying to build muscle/lose fat and I don’t want to hinder the process. It’s a very confusing subject with arguments for and against both sides of the issue.

Thank you again. You inspire so many of us to be role models to others in our everyday lives.

      Hi Heather!
Thank you. That is perfectly fine to do your cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. That is what I prefer to do. I would suggest having BCAAs before/during your cardio session to prevent muscle breakdown.
      All the best!

I am 48 and have been overweight most of my life. I have been exercising and eating better for about the past 9 months. I have lost almost 50 pounds so far. My problem is that as I lose weight, I am noticing that I have a lot of loose skin in the areas where I am losing. Is there anything I can do to prevent that or at the very least to minimize it?

Thank you so much for your help. Your website is a great motivator.

      Hi Becky,
Congratulations on your weight loss so far! That is awesome!! Resistance training will help tighten the muscles and skin also making sure you are getting enough vitamin E is important for your skins elasticity.
      All the best!
